CEO: Novatek sues Poland in Polish, EU courts over sanctions

MOSCOW, May 19 (PRIME) -- Russian independent gas producer Novatek has filed suits against the Polish sanctions, which make Novatek transfer its gas pipelines in Poland to local companies, to the Polish and European courts, Novatek CEO Leonid Mikhelson said on Thursday during the federal educational forum New Horizons.

“We have applied to the Polish court, and we are applying to the E.U. court,” he said.

Poland imposed sanctions on 50 Russian legal entities and individuals including Novatek in April. It left several dozens of Polish districts without liquefied gas, as Novatek’s unit Novatek Green Energy was the gas supplier to the regions. After that, the government of Poland made Novatek transfer its gas infrastructure to the Polish gas companies.
